Plantar Fasciitis

Effective Treatment for Plantar Fasciitis at The Body Mechanic

Plantar fasciitis is a common and often painful condition that affects the bottom of the foot, causing significant discomfort and impacting daily activities. At The Body Mechanic, we specialise in providing effective treatment for plantar fasciitis through a variety of advanced therapies.

Our aim is to alleviate pain, promote healing, and restore your foot’s functionality.

Understanding Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis occurs when the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue running across the bottom of your foot, becomes inflamed.

This condition is often characterised by:

  • Heel Pain: Sharp pain in the heel, especially noticeable with the first steps in the morning.
  • Stiffness: Tightness and discomfort in the arch of the foot.
  • Tenderness: Pain that worsens with prolonged standing or activity (such as walking).
Our Approach to Treating Plantar Fasciitis
At The Body Mechanic, we utilise a range of manual treatments tailored to effectively manage and treat plantar fasciitis. Our therapies focus on reducing inflammation, relieving pain, and improving the overall health of your feet.
Osteopathy for Plantar Fasciitis
Osteopathy: our osteopathic treatments focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of plantar fasciitis. Using gentle, hands-on techniques, we improve the alignment and function of your musculoskeletal system, reduce tension in the plantar fascia, and enhance your body’s natural healing processes. Osteopathy can help restore balance and alleviate pressure on the affected area.
Advanced Clinical Massage for Plantar Fasciitis
Advanced Clinical Massage: Our clinical massage treatment is tailored to target plantar fasciitis pain. The gentle-yet-effective techniques used, helps release tight muscles, improve blood flow, reduce discomfort and promote faster recovery. Advanced Clinical Massage works brilliantly on its own and in conjunction with other treatments like osteopathy for a holistic approach.
Sports Massage for Plantar Fasciitis

Sports Massage: Our sports massage therapy is designed to prevent injuries, prepare the body for athletic activities, and maintain optimal condition. It involves deep tissue manipulation to relieve muscle soreness, improve flexibility, and enhance overall foot function. Sports massage is particularly beneficial for athletes and active individuals who place significant stress on their feet.

Shockwave Therapy for Plantar Fasciitis

Shockwave Therapy: Shockwave is a cutting-edge treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate healing in the plantar fascia. This quick, non-invasive therapy helps to reduce pain and inflammation, improve blood flow, and promote tissue regeneration. It’s fantastic for those who have not experienced expected results from other musculoskeletal treatments.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR FIRST VISIT

We will start the healing process from your very first visit. All first visits include a thorough initial consultation with assessment and treatment.

Here’s what to expect:

First treatment for Plantar Fasciitis
If you’re new to The Body Mechanic, or haven’t been seen by one of our practitioners in over 3 months, your first visit will be an Initial Consultation with treatment.

The consultation part of the treatment involves finding out relevant information about your health history, current overall health, current presenting issue/s, and health goals.

Your first treatment is time to get to the root cause of your issue/s, start getting you out of pain and discomfort, and formulate a plan to reduce your pain and discomfort and help you move better.

Physical Assessment
Depending on the presenting issues you have, we will assess your condition through a variety of special tests, to either confirm or rule-out any conditions that may be part of the issue/s your experience.

Our assessment ensures that we can further fine-tune the hands-one portion of your first visit treatment.

Treat

With the relevant information gathered from finding out about your health history, current issue(s) and results from any assessments we’ve done, your practitioner can then create a more tailored approach to the hands-on part of your treatment, or in the case of Shockwave Therapy, start the treatment.

Treating you also serves as an assessment

What we discover here, will determine whether we give you any aftercare or rehab exercises, advise on any subsequent treatment and work with you to reach your health and wellbeing goals.

Aftercare / Follow-up sessions

As we’ve metioned under ‘Treat’, depending on your presenting issue/s, and health goals, we typically provide ongoing support so you know what wellness ‘tools and techniques’ to use in everyday life, to help with your plantar fasciitis.

We will also talk to you about any recommended follow-up sessions, and what this may look like for you. Follow-up sessions could either be with your practitioner, or we may recommend a colleague or treatment-type, should this be a better fit for you and your condition/s.

We always want to ensure we get you the fastest, safest results, in the shortest (but most realistic) space of time.
