At Body Unity, our physiotherapists specialise in analysing your movement patterns and posture to identify the root cause of your pain or discomfort.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or simply want to improve your physical performance, we can help.

We use a combination of hands-on therapy, tailored exercises, and education to restore your body’s natural movement and function.

Just like a car needs proper maintenance to run smoothly, your body needs the right care to stay active and pain-free.

Book your physiotherapy appointment today, and let us help you achieve long-term well-being.

What to expect at my appointment

During your physiotherapy appointment, you can expect a thorough assessment of your medical history and a detailed physical examination. Our physiotherapists will analyse your posture, movement patterns, and any specific areas of concern.

We’ll then create a personalised treatment plan that may include hands-on techniques, exercises, and advice on managing your condition.

Initial appointments typically last 45 minutes, giving us ample time to understand your needs and begin your journey to recovery.

1. Understanding Your Needs

Your physiotherapist will begin by carefully listening to your concerns and asking questions about your current symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle. This helps us gain a complete understanding of your individual needs. We’ll also discuss any ongoing medical treatments or medications you’re taking. All information shared is kept confidential and securely documented in your case notes.

2. Physical Assessment

To assess your condition thoroughly, your physiotherapist may ask you to perform certain movements and stretches.

This allows us to observe your posture, range of motion, and identify any areas of restriction or pain. You may be asked to remove some outer clothing to facilitate the examination. Your comfort and privacy are our priority. We provide gowns or towels and you’re welcome to have a friend or relative present during the assessment.

3. Movement Analysis and Hands-On Assessment

Your physiotherapist will observe your posture and movement patterns through simple movements and stretches. This helps us identify any limitations, restrictions, or imbalances that may be contributing to your pain or discomfort.

We’ll also use our hands to gently assess the health of your joints, muscles, and ligaments. This hands-on examination, called palpation, helps us pinpoint areas of tension, tenderness, or dysfunction

4. Diagnosis and Treatment Planning

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that assesses, treats and prevents movement disorders.

Based on our assessment, your physiotherapist will clearly explain their findings and discuss a personalised treatment plan with you.

We’ll outline the goals of treatment, the techniques we’ll use, and the expected benefits.

We’ll also discuss any potential risks and ensure you understand the estimated number of sessions needed to achieve your goal

5. Physiotherapy Treatment

Your treatment may involve a variety of hands-on techniques, such as joint mobilisation, soft tissue massage, and stretching. We may also prescribe specific exercises to improve your strength, flexibility, and coordination.

Your physiotherapist will always explain each technique and obtain your consent before proceeding.

We encourage you to ask questions and share any concerns you may have throughout the treatment process.

6. Ongoing Care and Support

It’s normal to experience some mild soreness or stiffness after your physiotherapy session. Your physiotherapist will explain any potential reactions and provide advice on managing them.

We’re always available to answer your questions and address any concerns that may arise.

We’ll review your progress at each session and adjust your treatment plan as needed to ensure you achieve the best possible outcome.

Physiotherapy helps people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement, exercise, manual therapy,  education and advice. It can help restore function, reduce pain, and improve overall quality of life.

Yes, all physiotherapists practising in the UK must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This is a legal requirement to ensure that physiotherapists meet the necessary education, training, and professional conduct standards.

The HCPC is the regulatory body for 15 health and care professions in the UK. They protect the public by setting standards for these professions and holding registrants accountable to those standards.

You can verify a physiotherapist’s registration by checking the HCPC online register. This allows you to confirm their qualifications and ensure they are legally allowed to practice in the UK.
